Groovin' to the 70's

What can I say...I still love the 70's. The music always brings back memories, the clothes were unforgettable and the freedoms that we enjoyed as kids to run and play, made everyday an adventure.

I paid a mere 50 cents for this little treasure and it’s worth so much more to me.

It’s a copy of People Magazine from 1979.

Looking through old magazines is so enjoyable.
A real pictorial blast from the past.

This particular People is a peek straight into my days of youth (yes, I’m that old…).

Check out the cover…

And just inside the cover is this ad for Chaz, featuring one of my favorites, Tom Selleck. He’s still as adorable now as he ever was. I miss my Magnum P.I.

There is also a feature article on Brooke Sheilds. I adored her as a kid and I have to say that she’s one of the few child stars that ended up growing into a well balanced adult!

Now onto some 70’s wheels…

This was the same kind of ride that one of my favorite neighborhood family’s drove. I LOVED their groovy van and all the fancy features that it had inside…including shag carpet, of course.

This was the car of my dreams.
Especially in yellow.
The only thing missing is a surf rack on top!

I have to say that I would still drive one of these today!

Now onto home décor…

Chandies (aka chandeliers) were in! And they still are!

Remember this? A monstrous hunk of wood to house the TV.

Now that I’m looking at it, I wonder what it would look like if you painted it a nice shabby pink…hmmmm…might be worth investigating!

And finally a little reminder of just how cool Neil Diamond was.
I still love his music.
Right on!

I hope you enjoyed our little groove down this 70's path.

Until next time, keep on truckin'!

Here's who we're playing with today!

I did not just enjoy it, I loved it! What a fantastic post! Sigh, I really miss the 70's. I miss those big tv's and having to get up and change the channel. Family gathered 'round to watch Lavern and Shirley or Welcome Back Kotter. And all the Midnight Specials and Don Kershner's Rock Concerts. And I miss Peter Frampton. So yep, thank you, for the walk down memory lane "doin' the bump" no less.

Wow, that was so cool! I am "that old", too! Look how young both Brooke Shields and John Travolta were back then, and that TV looks just like one that my parents had, only it was a Curtis Mathis.

I still think of People as a new magazine (even though I do consider the 1970s vintage).

What a trip--a great trip down memory lane! I laughed and nodded to what High Street Cottage said above too. In '78 I graduated from HS, so a very good year for me in many ways. Great post!

I wonder if hairy chested men will come back in style. Apparently the shirt open down to the belly button with a big gold chain nestled in dark chest hair hasn't made come back yet. With all these metro sexuals now I kinda miss the bushy guy. :)

I really enjoyed your post. I was born in 1979. I always think it’s interesting to look back to the year I was born and see what it was like.

I love the car when I was little I wanted a purple Camaro Z 28.

I always wanted one of those camaros...but never had one! What a fun post, sure brought back a lot of memories. Happy VTT!

Such a fun post! Growing up we had a ford van with those little round windows in the back! No shag carpet though! No seats or seat belts either! Yikes! We called it the big green monster!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and voting for my kitchen! I really appreciate it!

This post is a lot of fun. I had to show this to my boyfriend also because we joke that he has a man-crush on Tom Selleck (he never misses Blue Bloods). I hated those huge TVs but my grandparents had a stereo in a cabinet that I still think was very nice. Oh the 70s!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. My first car was a 1971 Camaro. I wish I still had it. I love the music from the 70's, but the clothes, I could live without.
