You Got a WHAT?!

Just recently I added something new to my trousseau, and let’s just say that it’s going to be with me…forever. Yes, I crossed over into the world of tattoos.

For those of you who don’t know me personally, this is not a biggie - practically everyone has a tattoo these days, right? But for those of you who know me well, you’re screaming, “You got a what?!”. My personal style is somewhat a mix of Sarah Jessica Parker meets Jennifer Garner. In other words, a mix of classy and casual and no tats in site!

Here’s how I came about getting this new little addition. My husband is an infantry soldier and is gone quite a bit. I miss him terribly when he’s away. I often take off my wedding band to read the inscription that’s stamped inside it. When we were getting married we kept our inscriptions a secret from each other prior to our wedding, so on our wedding day, we quickly peeked inside our rings to see what the other had chosen to write. Guess what we both chose? “My Beloved”.

About a month ago my husband was away at a training for several weeks so the kids and I headed “home” to Texas (and many of you followed my Texas travels via my blog!). While I was there, I gathered two of my bestest girls and after a hefty margarita, we headed to a tattoo shop in downtown Austin. One of my besties was sweet enough to let me crush her hand during my ink-needle torture! True friends...

I guess you’re wondering what I chose to get (unless you cheated and scrolled down to the pics…)? Let’s get onto the photos!

Here it is…

Just kidding. That was for shock effect.

Here’s me signing my rights away…

This is Jim, my tattoo dude. If you look closely at the reflection in this photo, you can see me in the background, already squeezing my sweet friend's hand - and the pain hadn't even started yet!

Let the excruciating pain commence... I do have to say that this was nothing compared to child birth!

And the final result…”Beloved” in script across my ring finger.

Remember the saying, “Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt”? Well, I did just that.

Best of all, He loves my sweet tatty-poo as well!

FABULOUS!

We are friends of a couple with tattooed wedding rings. People ask them if that isn't rather permanent. Duh, that's the idea!

You should have called me!!! I would have come and let you crush my hand as well!!! I also have a tattoo. My husband got one first - my name on his chest. I am DEATHLY afraid of needles but wanted to have his name tattoo-ed on me as well. I finally worked up the courage - the tattoo artist tried to talk me out of putting an actual name on me for about 30 minutes - but he didn't and I did and now have a pretty little tattoo on my lower back - honeybunney's name where no one can see it but him!!

You are so brave!! I have done childbirth 3 times now, but don't have the courage to endure the pain for a tat. heehee.

I'm stopping by to reply to your question about the linked suggested posts below post. I forget now how I did this!! lol. I will definitely try to find it for you, though. When I do, I'll stop back by.

Thank you for taking time to stop by my blog. Happy weekend!

Love it! But I think the fingers and toes are one of the most painful places to get a tat. I've always wanted to get a toe ring tat, but I'm too chicken. My husband reminds me that I've given birth to two kids - one that was almost 10 pounds, but for some reason the pain of getting one of these little things seems too overwhelming. :)

Thanks for stopping by and following twelve crafts because that helped me find your blog and pick up a new blog to follow as well!

Oh how I love the story about the inscription in your wedding bands. That is such a wonderful story. Your tat is so discreet, and so meaningful. It looks great! You are a brave lady! Thank you for linking this to Favorite Things Sat. laurie

Hi
What a sweet post. I am not a fan of the tatoo but I would definitely make an exception for yours, like I said....soooo sweet.
Enjoy your beloved for all the years of your lives.

You would be surprised at the many people who have tattoos that are kept private.
One day their families will be in shock to find out that Grandma had the words "BadA@@" on her tush. Lol

Good for you, I always say, I need to get my husband's company logo on my cheek (not my face) and he'd pay attention to me. I like yours way better, very nice.

I really like your tattoo! I have two, both are very tiny and not in obvious places, as well. I can't wear my wedding ring atm as I'm pregnant and my fingers are swollen, wish I had a tatt like yours! <3 <3
